An exciting opportunity has arisen in our Business Change and Innovation department for an enthusiastic individual to join the team as a Trainee Software Developer. We’re looking for someone who has technical aptitude with a desire to learn and a genuine interest in innovative technologies. Whether you’re looking for your first step into IT or wanting to developing current skills, this could be the right role for you.
As a trainee software developer you will join a team of professionals whose role it is to design, develop and test software to enhance the functionality of our business applications. You will analyse user requirements and design and develop solutions, implementing these designs as appropriate whilst assessing the impact that these solutions may have on other systems and business areas. Along with this you will also maintain an awareness of system and technology capabilities and limitations. You’ll get involved with and seek to continually improve processes and systems, promoting ideas within the team.
Working as part of a vibrant team consisting of Developers, Testers, Project Managers, Business Analysts and Architects, you will be responsible for helping drive the Society forward in the ever evolving technology arena; but you will also work with people across the Society on larger scale, complex and strategic transformation projects.

We are looking for a passionate, technically minded and driven individual, with an enthusiasm for learning, to join the team.
Previous programming experience and/or a degree in Computer Science would be an advantage but these are not mandatory as full training will be given.
Having strong verbal and written communication skills with a keen eye for detail will enable you to support BC&I to deliver work to the highest standards. Whilst full training will be provided, the ability to work under your own initiative and drive your own professional development will be essential.
