The role

This is an opportunity to work as an intern software developer in the Enterprise Data Management software development team. This team develops software which is used by hundreds of financial institutions globally to gain control and visibility over their data - this software has won a number of industry awards. You will be based in Altrincham, Greater Manchester, working alongside the core development team, and collaborating with the global development, QA and Product teams. You will be mentored by an experienced software engineer and will gain hands on experience of working on a large scale commercial software product.

Department overview

The Enterprise Data Management (EDM) platform puts quality, audited data at the centre of customer’s organisations. Its solutions build gold copy masters across all data types, delivering tangible data governance, risk management and compliance frameworks and rationalising legacy architectures. The EDM platform is the central core for all transactions, securities, prices, rates, counterparty and issuer data. EDM empowers those who understand the data to manage the data, no matter the complexity, volume or scope of the project.

Position summary

During your internship you will be given responsibility for writing one or more improvements and additions to the EDM product, which will then be released in the next version of EDM. You will participate in the team’s day to day Agile meetings, and your mentor will ensure that you have the training and other support you need.

Subject to suitable performance during the internship, a full-time position will be offered, after successful completion of your degree

Ideal candidate

The successful candidate will be a passionate and talented developer who meets these requirements:

  • Is working towards a degree in Computer Science or similar degree which includes a significant programming content.
  • Has a strong desire to pursue a career in programming, and is able to demonstrable an aptitude for this.
  • Has practical experience in programming in one or more high level languages. EDM is written in C# and Typescript (using Angular) so experience in these would be ideal but is not essential. Candidates with experience of other languages such as Java will be cross-trained.
