Roke imagines a more secure world. A world where technology protects, rather than exposes. A world where expert engineers, consultants and business support staff collaborate to protect what matters most to our clients. We are seeking highly motivated and knowledgeable staff to join us working across ground breaking projects within the fields of autonomy, connectivity, data analytics and cyber.
Each day, it is rare that you will have nothing new to learn. Our people use their intelligence to make the world a safer place, by combining innovation, strong industry partnerships and 60 years of experience to offer our clients truly exceptional advice, research and development.
Why not join us as an Undergraduate on an industrial placement?
You will typically be with us for six to twelve months in September and will be paid an excellent salary.
As an industrial placement student, you will be given at least one project to work on, under the direction of one of Roke’s lead scientists or engineers. Each project will be drawn from our innovation portfolio, undertaking work in support of Roke’s future capabilities and products.
Projects are assigned dynamically but will generally will fall within the fields of data science, cyber security, sensor development, AI and autonomy or communications technologies. They will be genuine technical challenges that Roke is keen to develop a solution for – our projects are not canned exercises where we already know the answer. You should be a self-starter, willing to learn new skills and apply yourself to complex problems. You will be encouraged to talk to experts in the Roke team and to use their knowledge to achieve the objectives of your project. Where the project permits, you may be able to work in a team, co-operating with other placement students or with Roke engineers and scientists.
What do we expect from you?
You will have achieved well above average performance in your A-level examinations and demonstrate the ability to achieve a 2:1 or equivalent in your degree course (Computer Science, Physics or Mathematics – any year of study).
You should either already have some practical experience of software and/or be able to demonstrate an analytical approach to problem solving.
